PRP Sexual Treatment

Whilst sexual dysfunction can be frustrating, there are treatments, including Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy that can help you find relief, and enjoy a more satisfying sexual experience.

What Causes Sexual Dysfunction?

A healthy sex life plays a major role in both men’s and women’s overall sense of happiness and well-being. If you are experiencing pain during intercourse, struggle to achieve an orgasm or other symptoms of sexual dysfunction, it can be both frustrating and discouraging.

So, what causes sexual dysfunction? For men, sexual dysfunction often manifests itself as erectile dysfunction, and this can be caused by high cholesterol, medical conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes. However, depression, stress, and other mental health concerns can also contribute to sexual problems.

For women, sexual issues often arise because of a hormonal imbalance, including pregnancy and menopause when lower estrogen levels lead to a decreased blood flow to the pelvic region, causing changes in the genital tissues and sexual responsiveness.

Many women experience problems with sexual function at some stage in life.  Like in men, there are medical illnesses that can impact sexual desire, including stress, anxiety, and relationship troubles.

PRP Sexual Dysfunction Treatment

Naturally, our blood is composed of various key nutrients including platelets that support coagulation, plasma that carries salts and enzymes, and growth factors that support health. PRP treatments take these components and inject them into the skin to help the body repair and regenerate tissue in the area.

Treatment takes around 40 minutes and will start with your chosen clinician extracting blood from your arm. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge to separate its components and injected into the skin.

For cases of sexual dysfunction, PRP shots can be administered directly into the penile, or vaginal tissues to help stimulate cell growth, and improve overall circulation to enhance feeling, and function.

Is PRP Treatment Safe?

As PRP therapy uses no additional substances, besides your own blood it is considered to be one of the safest aesthetic treatments on the market. There is no associated downtime and little to no risk of complication or infection. However, as with all medical treatments, you should seek a trained professional to perform treatment in a sterile medical environment.

Generally speaking, PRP is safe for anybody. However, there are certain medical conditions in which PRP is not recommended, including pregnancy, AIDS, and cancers. You should speak to a medical professional before undergoing PRP treatment to identify whether it is a suitable treatment plan to address your concern.

PRP injections for sexual issues can be used to treat:

  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Weak erections and/ or orgasms
  • Limited sexual sensation
  • Pain
  • Vaginal laxity
  • Urinary leakage
  • Penile curvature

PRP Treatment

Directly after treatment, you may experience slight tenderness in the treatment area and bruising, but this is natural and will clear within a couple of days. For best results, it is recommended that you undergo around four treatments spaced evenly, your doctor will advise on frequency. You may also require yearly maintenance treatments to help retain your original results.

PRP is a fantastic treatment and one that we have been offering for many years now at our clinic. We both do believe that regenerative medicine is the future of aesthetics and PRP is just that – we wish more people knew about its many benefits. The product we use is Regen PRP produced by Regen Lab which we couldn’t recommend enough. Not only is this product safe and easy to use, but it has also benefited patient goals and outcomes. Five stars!
